后来发现：
洗浴、保健等指示牌（这个，你懂的），无英文对照；
插座开关面板、一次性洗漱用品等属于外购的或者其它供应商厂家的，基本正常。
只要是酒店自己贴上去的，不仅是卫生间里的各种提示牌，连门卡和房门背后的逃生指南，只要有英文翻译的，都是超级Chinglish。
我在北京嘉茂负一楼的超市看到其中的"蔬果"被英译为"Vegetables & Fruit"，一眼觉得前面的名词不该加复数。
后来一查，人家的用法是对的。我算是学习了。
一般来说，大公司的英文都是正确的。
小公司的英文，往往是请金山给翻译的。
有一种饮料，又是葡萄糖又是苏打水，奇难喝无比，产于黄石――黄石啊，我对这个城市很有好感――可是有一条对应的英译，自吹含什么物质，功效如何的广告，翻译得就非常的不地道，我估计金山先生看到了也会生气的。
这样的英译，不是为了给老外看的，主要是为了排版上的需要。
I've forward each of my work mail to my gmail.
So, in the past 2 years - since I changed my job - the number that I've used my gmail storage has increased from less than 10% to more than 50%.
And it is still increasing rapidly, since most of the work mails have large attachment.
So I have a suggestion to google mail: let the user decide to delete the attachment permanently while leave the mail body in the inbox.
And it will be better if: the user can move the attachment into G-driver. while the G-driver has a much larger storage.

我想起一个典型的翻译案例，说是某物的形状像是个“山”字。你总不能译成是like the Chinese character "mountain"吧？
有一个聪明人译为：倒过来的“M”。

发现，英语里的缩写一般都是3个字母及以上。of，the之类的小词一般不纳入缩写（就像小老婆算不得老婆一样）。但是有些特殊的，就是如果少于3个字母了。比如国防部DoD(Department of Defense)，那教育部和能源部都是DOE（好像教育部自甘阳痿或者叫与世无争，自称为ed，当然，说的都是美国。中国的事中国人不敢说的，只能评人家老外）。
如果只有两个的，至少发音应该多一点吧，比如杂志《英语世界》（world of english）好像就是缩写为WE。
按这个规律，如果是fiber to the home，那应该也可以简作fiber home。home好像是一个副词吧（当然也可以做名词），去掉to the，应该说更地道，只不过不方便缩写了。所以，人们一般不这么简称。
还有，如果简作FH之后，就不方便简作类似的FTTx了，总不能出现一个函数式Fx吧。
用google.cn搜索上述四词，还好，烽火没有排在第一，并且前面的Sponsored Link较多（已标明），它比较聪明，知道这是个特殊的词组。如果是搜fiber home，则烽火开始有机会出人头地了，排了个第一。
如果用百度来做相同的对比实验，结果惨不忍睹。百度上面全是广告（并且没有标明，内幕再一次被验证），并且Sponsor是很小的公司。唯一一个和烽火相关的，还只是网易的一个新闻页面。

Hope that some visitor click one RSS icon, and he will subscribe all my 3 or 4 blogs. And, what's more, he can receive all my posts by email. Somebody says feedburner can do this, but now I can only burn one.
I want to teach Chinese in USA. I am always willing to. Now good news comes out saying that there is chance. But one of those condition is to teach no less than 3 years which I don't qualify. Sounds regretful.

So here goes another wish/hope for google/blogspot: the function to attach files (even not too large size limitation is ok). Also, hope g-drive: a mobile disk in internet to store my files(any kind of type, has either a private of share attribute) come out early. Can google heare me?
Another worry: What if all my google data lost because of "Force Majeure Circumstances"? all my mails, my docs and spreadsheets, my contacts... are all lost, so terrible, un-imaginable.
Which is safer: to let it store in google server or to export to the hard-disk and burn a CD-ROM?
So here comes the suggestion for gmail: export/import all mails/contacts into a file and this file can be read by outlook or OE.
